After the completion of the tour’s first North American leg in August 2023, the global pop star reportedly issued bonuses of $100,000 each to nearly 50 truck drivers responsible for transporting the massive production across cities.
The bonuses stood out sharply within the touring and logistics industry, where driver incentives are typically far more modest.
According to Michael Scherkenbach, founder and CEO of Shomotion, one of the trucking companies contracted for the tour, standard bonuses usually range between $5,000 and $10,000. By comparison, Swift’s payout was described as unprecedented and deeply impactful for the recipients.
Scherkenbach said the moment drivers received their bonus envelopes was filled with disbelief. Several reportedly hesitated to look inside, wary of appearing impolite.
When they finally did, confusion quickly turned into shock. Some initially thought the checks were for $1,000 or $10,000, while others assumed the figure had to be a joke.
The realization that the amount was real marked what Scherkenbach called a “life-changing” moment for many of the drivers.
